Carne asada tacos and a mango margarita at La Vecindad in Las Vegas

La Vecindad is proud to be featured by TikTok in its 2026 U.S. Economic Impact Report, highlighting how digital discovery can create real opportunities for restaurants, entrepreneurs, employees, and local communities.

The report, released October 1, 2026, estimates that economic activity supported by TikTok generated $81 billion in U.S. GDP and supported 410,000 American jobs in 2025. For us here in Las Vegas, those big national numbers tell a very personal story: sometimes a video on a phone can lead to a new customer walking through the door, a new employee joining the team, or a local business finding an audience it never could have reached before.

And La Vecindad was included as one of those stories.

Why Did TikTok Feature La Vecindad?

In its announcement of the report, TikTok highlighted Vanessa Barreat and @lavecindadlv, describing La Vecindad’s journey from a small food stand to a thriving Las Vegas restaurant that now supports around 60 families.

That journey has always been about more than food.

It is about comunidad — community.

Every plate served, every celebration around our tables, every new customer who discovers us, and every person who shares a La Vecindad video helps our neighborhood grow a little bigger.

TikTok has given us another way to bring people into that neighborhood.

How Is TikTok Helping People Discover Local Restaurants?

According to the economic impact report, 27 million Americans visited an independent shop, café, or restaurant for the first time after discovering it on TikTok.

The report estimates that TikTok translated into $4.7 billion in additional local café and restaurant spending in 2025.

It also found that 47% of TikTok users say they visited a local café or restaurant after seeing it trend on TikTok.

For a restaurant, this is where digital marketing becomes something very real.

A person watches a video.

They see a dish they have never tried.

They send it to a friend.

Then one night, instead of simply continuing to scroll, they decide to come taste it for themselves.

That journey from the For You feed to a restaurant table is becoming an important part of how people discover where to eat.

What Does This Recognition Mean to La Vecindad?

Being included in a national economic impact story is meaningful because it represents years of building something one customer at a time.

La Vecindad did not begin as a large restaurant operation.

It began small.

Growth came through food, persistence, word of mouth, community support, and eventually the ability of social media to introduce our story to people far beyond the customers already standing in front of us.

In La Vecindad’s TikTok campaign video, Vanessa explains that the platform has helped the restaurant reach new customers, create local jobs, and build a community that continues growing alongside the business.

That is the part of the story we are most proud of.

Why Does Supporting Local Restaurants Matter?

When you support a local restaurant, the impact does not stop at the cash register.

Restaurants create jobs. They purchase products and services. They create gathering places. They introduce visitors to local culture. And they give families and friends a place to celebrate birthdays, accomplishments, holidays, and ordinary Tuesday nights together.

For Mexican restaurants like La Vecindad, there is another piece of the story too: food gives us an opportunity to share cultura.

The colors, flavors, recipes, music, humor, and traditions inside La Vecindad are part of what we want people to discover when they visit Las Vegas.

Social media may make the introduction.

But the real experience happens around the table.

From TikTok to the Table in Las Vegas

The 2026 TikTok U.S. Economic Impact Report tells a story through billions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of jobs.

Our piece of that story is much simpler.

Someone discovers La Vecindad.

They become curious.

They visit us.

They bring someone else.

And poco a poco — little by little — our community grows.

If you discovered La Vecindad through TikTok, Instagram, a friend, or simply by driving past us in Las Vegas, we invite you to come inside and become part of the story.
